Crafting Meaningful Visual Stories

My name is Melodie Zmich. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Stout in the major of Graphic Design & Interactive Media. In 2019 after I graduated high school, I did not know what I wanted to do for my college degree. I went to Normandale Community College to pursue my generals and to hope figure out what I wanted to do. I found my answer when I took a graphic design class there.

I always did art as a hobby, but I never thought I could pursue it as a full-time job. Graphic design is a huge industry and there are many doors to opportunities. I then transferred to UW-Stout to get my degree. In the three and a half years I have been there, I have learned so much from logo branding and poster designs, to user experience and type variable font-making. I even did comics for fun!

I also got to study abroad in the Netherlands and Belgium for the Graphic Design Study Abroad program in June of 2024. I got to learn a lot about Deutsch design and how different it compared to the American design.

As I continue my journey as a graphic designer and illustrator, I hope to learn something new.
